The registrar of identification cards in Kisii County has been challenged to open offices in rural areas to reach residents in the grassroots.

Speaking on Tuesday in Kisii town, Walter Kiyondi, a business community chairman, said that the registrar needs to have measures in place to open offices in remote areas so that they can reach more people who need to have identification cards.

Kinyondi, who has organised  for an exercise in collaboration with registrar's office in Kisii County for residents of Kitutu Central to take identification cards on Thursday, appealed to residents who have no IDs  to voluntarily acquire them.

“We urge our registrar to take their offices to ‘mashinani’ so that our people can take identification cards this will help our people who do not want to travel far for the  some,” said Kiyondi.

He also urged business people to ensure they have identification cards to make it easy when acquiring loans.

“An identification card is an essential document. I urge my business people to have them since it will be needed when one needs to acquire for loans,” added Kiyondi.
