The Kisii county governor hopeful who spoke during Citizen TV's Power Breakfast Show, said the double registration can be avoided at the voter registration centres, and asked the IEBC to take full responsibility.

"How can the system allow two people to register with a single ID? I think the biometric voter registration should be in such a way that it cannot register the same ID more than once. The IEBC must take responsibility for this," he said.

"Is this deliberate? and which side is meant to benefit from this? As it is, I can tell you for a fact, that there is a feeling that the referee (IEBC) is leaning on the government's side, so they should come up with a solution immediately," he claimed.

The legislator also called for a return of the SMS registration status confirmation to help those not certain of their registration status to confirm.

"Initially you could type your ID number and send it to a given SMS number, a system that is no longer in place. This should be reinstated so that many Kenyans who are now in doubt can know their registration status," he said.
