Chiefs from both sides in Ikorongo have been tasked to make sure that no cattle rustling in the area as one way of bringing peace to the area.

Addressing residents at Ikorongo on Wednesday during a peace meeting led by Regional commissioners from Rift valley and Nyanza  among other leaders they were challenged to take full responsibility or else to be sacked.

Rift Valley Regional commissioner Wanyama Musiambo told chiefs to make sure they take control on both sides to curb cattle rustling which has been a major problem between the communities in Transmara border.

“We need chiefs and their assistant to take their responsibility so that we can curb this problem,” said Wanyama.

“How can we still have cattle rustling when we have chiefs from both sides who needs to know what is going on in their locations, if they have failed we will sack them and have new people in place who can help the situations,” questioned Wanyama.

He added that as security agents they will not allow any criminals to continue with the mission of threatening people.

“Through the resolutions, we have made all cows which were stolen will be recovered since we have the number, we will make sure that both communities have recovered their cows,” he added.

His Nyanza counterpart Wilson Njenga said that as security agents they will make sure that peace has been restored in the border so that the communities can live in peace and harmony.

Among the leaders who attended the peace function was Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Narok governor Samuel Tunai among others, both called for peace for all communities.
