Wamatangi raised concerns saying that security matters should be handled with seriousness and that leaders should stop petty issues that are likely to worsen the situation.

Speaking to residents in Kiambu town, Wamatangi said that politicians should support laws that are aimed at curbing insecurity especially terrorism.

He said that wrangling about matters of security would only give perpetrators time and confidence to continue with their ill motives.

“Leaders should stop politicising security matters and instead support the government as it seeks to enhance security in thecountry,” said Wamatangi.

The senator took issue with the opposition over their stand on the proposed changes to security law.

Wamatangi asked them to seek dialogue with other leaders through the senate and Parliament instead of arguing in public gatherings.

The senator said that though everyone has a right to expressing their views and opinions, the same should be argued through the right laid out channels.

Wamatangi said that the proposed changes to security laws will greatly help in fight against terrorism and other crimes.

He observed that time has come for appropriate measures to be taken in order to put an end to insecurity issues that are facing some parts of the country.

Wamatangi called on leaders and Kenyans in general to support each other in fight against terrorism saying it poses a threat to the country’s economic development.
