Residents of Tala town in Matungulu sub-county in Machakos county have been cautioned against poor disposal of waste which is clogging drainages.
Matungulu sub-county administrator Victor Kiatu noted that residents especially those living in towns are disposing wastes poorly hence causing clogging of drainages.
Speaking in his office in Tala town he cautioned residents saying that disposal of diapers, polythene bags in the area has become an eye sore and needs an urgent plan of action.
Kiatu said that no matter how much the county ensures clean streets without the residents playing their role all will be a waste.
“When you walk in this town diapers are common sights, many women are now using disposable diapers but how they dispose them is the problem,” said Kiatu.
"Although the county government collects garbage in the region we want to sensitize residents to have compost pit in their homes where they could dispose their waste. This will go a long way in ensuring the region is clean," he concluded.
