The business owners and traders of Tala town, who had threatened to go protest come Tuesday have called off the strike.
The traders called off their demonstration after Evelyn Kavuu the Kangundo sub-county commissioner held a meeting with the traders committee and arrived on a consensus on Monday evening.
Traders were against the county governments decision of increasing license fees which they alleged had been heightened by more Sh 2,000.
Speaking while addressing traders in Tala town on Monday evening, the Tala Town Traders Association chairlady Anna Katile confirmed the strike call-off. She stated that the traders would continue paying the old license fees amounts.
“We have called off the strike because the problems behind the planned demonstrations have gotten solutions. We have faith in Kavuu as she has already ordered that traders pay the old license fees,” said Katile
The business owners and traders have been called upon to present their respective license fee documents they used to pay in 2014 to the sub-county offices. This will be used to determine the rates they pay for this year which will be a similar amount.
This comes barely a week after Donyo Sabuk, Kangundo and Matungulu traders demonstrated at sub-county offices protesting against the same high license fees and were granted an identical solution of paying the older license fees rates.
