Traders and residents of Tala now want the county government to rehabilitate the town's drainage system.
The traders said the current state of majority of the town's drainage lines are in deplorable state, and therefore pose a serious threat to public health.
Area secretary general of chamber of Commerce and industry Irene Nduku said the county government should move with speed and fix the drainage trenches that were left unattended last year.
The county government carried out expansion works on the drainage trenches as a mitigation measure on last year's El Nino rains which wrecked havoc in the town.
"There is a high risk of outbreak of waterborne diseases if the situation remains as it is now, " said Nduku.
