Speaking on Monday during the first day of Kisii Central sub county primary school games, Prof John Akama said he was impressed with the performance of Jackson Otundo who beat all his competitors to finish first in the podium in 800M and 1500M races.

According to the don, the boy who was introduced by his school teachers as an orphan could comfortably participate in extracurricular activities besides performing well in his class work.

“I am very pleased to be associated with great talents like this young man. It is not easy to have someone perfecting in more than one race and go ahead to win both setting the record at the sub county level,” he said.

“I have already been told that he is an orphan and I will take care of him till he completes his studies. This also means he has to continue performing well in field activities,” he said.

Prof. Akama asked local leaders to invest in youth talents since many youths across the country are earning their incomes through talent related activities.

Otundo hailed the renowned scholar and promised to lift the name of the county high in national completions which will be held at Nyayo stadium later this year.
