Devolution Cabinet secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has accused ODM leader Raila Odinga’s over the recent remarks he made in Narok County allegedly inciting the Maasai community to evict IEBC commissioners from office.
Kiunjuri at the same time cautioned politicians against making statements which could incite Kenyans to engage in violence.
Raila has defended himself against the allegations saying he did not incite anyone.
The minister said leaders should desist from such utterances especially when the country is approaching the electioneering period.
“It’s exactly 10 months and six days to the general election, we must desist from politics that can cause chaos in the country, by the end of the day Kenya will be there without Raila Odinga, Kenya will be there without Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenya will still stand without Mwangi Kiunjuri,” said the minister as quoted by capitalfm.co.ke.
He spoke Friday in Marmaner Ward of Laikipia County during the funeral Grace Wanjiku Githinji, a sister to the area MCA Francis Mukuria.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared vacant the positions of the eight IEBC commissioners and their chairman vacant after they tendered in their resignations.
However, they will remain in office until a new team is established.
