The High Court has ordered the Commission for University Education to probe the authenticity of Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana’s academic documents.

Should it emerge that his academic documents are not authentic, he will lose his seat.

Lady Justice Asneth Ongeri declined to strike out the application preliminary before the hearing and instead issued a 7 days period for the commission to comply with the court order.

Governor Godhana suffered a blow in the legal battle to defend his gubernatorial seat, after the high court declined to dismiss a case challenging his academic qualifications.

In the case, a voter is challenging the educational qualifications of Governor Godhana who was elected on ODM party ticket.

Justice Ongeri further declined an application made by the governor’s defense team seeking to strike out the commission for University Education which is an interested party in the suit.

Instead, the judge gave the commission 7 days to confirm the authenticity of the academic qualifications of the governor.
