Uasin Gishu County Public Service Board Chairman Joseph Tanui has put on notice lazy and absentee county officials.

He said there are county officials who are fond of going to work late while others do not show up for over a week without permission.

“I want to give a stern warning to such county officials that they either reform or shown the door since we cannot allow our name to be tarnished because of some few self-centered individuals who are not ready to work,” he said in Eldoret town, Sunday.

“It’s their mandate to serve residents in a friendly manner and not to run away from them. The official working hours are from 8 am-5 pm and no one is allowed to leave their place of work before 5 pm,” he added.

He, however, cautioned residents against some people purporting to be county officials promising to give them jobs.

“I call upon residents to be vigilant and not to fall into their traps since as the public service board, we only employ people on merit and not through paying something. I urge them to report such people and stern actions will be taken against them,” noted Tanui.
