Tanzania’s livestock ministry has raised a storm after burning chicks worth millions of shillings.

The chicks 6,400 from Kenya are estimated to be worth Sh12 million according to details from one of the country's online platforms Jamii Forums.

It is alleged that the chicks were transported into Tanzania through the Namanga border.

The chicks which were incinerated alive caused a furore among Tanzanians who condemned the action.

This is not the first incidence where the Tanzanian government is blatantly confiscation or destroying property or goods from Kenya.

Just two weeks ago, the ministry auctioned livestock confiscated from Kenyans for allegedly being in the country illegally.

Despite the chicks being destroyed, the government has not issued a statement showing they were sick necessitating the action.
