A Tanzanian pastor, Eustace Mutasingwa, has been detained over fraud.

The preacher is alleged to have obtained over Sh1.5m illegally from a Kenyan business man was detained on Monday.

Mutasingwa is said to have obtained the money fraudulently from Loy Mbati by pretending he could import a vehicle for her.

Senior Principle Magistrate Martha Mutuku granted the investigating officer permission to continue detaining the suspect as the matter is still being probed.

Police detective in charge of the case, Bernard Asirigwa, in his application said the probe would require him to go to Mombasa to seek further details of the case.

Mutasingwa was arrested on September 24 at his residence within Nairobi. 

The case will be mentioned on October 3.
