Police in Mombasa are investigating Tanzania Hip Hop sensation Darassa over failure to stage a show at Sharks Great Club in Likoni Shelly Beach on Saturday.
Gates Mgenge, who was the show MC, told The Star that about 1,000 hip hop lovers had attended the event only for the rapper to disappoint them. The organizers of the event were compelled to refund the revelers their cash after the Muziki hit maker failed to honor a contract in which he was expected to be paid Sh500,000."I saved the image of the newly launched club. In fact, I personally engaged and ensured that everyone was refunded either in cash or drinks," Mgenge said, as quoted by the daily. Confirming the incident, Likoni deputy police boss Antony Shimoli said investigations are under way, adding that the public will be notified once the officers get to the bottom of the matter."I can't comment more on this. It's still in the early stages but CID officers have moved in and are investigating. But what I can assure you is that all those found in the scandal, even in the neighbouring country, the law will catch up with them," he said. When contacted, Darassa said he was not aware of the planned show. This comes a few weeks after Congolese Ferra Golla failed to perform at Mamba Club.
