Taxi drivers at Keumbu market have accused traders and hawkers for taking up a space meant for their parking at Keumbu market.
The drivers said the hawkers and traders have been helped by Kisii county tax collectors to occupy the space meant for parking of taxis.
Led by Ken Onsembe the drivers said they will stop paying revenue to the county until their parking space will preserved.
“We pay parking fee daily but our parking space has been occupied by traders and hawkers. As taxi drivers, we have agreed to stop paying the parking fee until our space is preserved,” Onsembe said.
Onsembe added that even boda boda operators at the market have no parking space and they are now forced to fight for the smaller space left near Keumbu main bus stop to ferry and drop passengers.
“We are now fighting for a smaller space left with boda boda riders at Keumbu main bus stop. The management of the market should also move with speed and help us get enough parking space where we can drop and pick passengers with ease,” he added.
The drivers were speaking at Keumbu market on Sunday.
