Taxi drivers and bodaboda operators in Eldoret town on Wednesday accuse area police commander Mr Muchugu Nyaga of harassment.

They claimed the police arrest them arbitrarily and forced to pay hefty fines.

Speaking to the local journalists, one of taxi operators, Peter Rono, said all operators in the town are forced to remit a bribe of Sh 1000 every month, failure to which one is harassed.

"Most of us don't even earn the thousand from our less paying business yet the police demand it," Rono said.

Muchugu, however, dismissed the accusations.

He said anyone arrested by police must haven't adhered to the set traffic rules.

The business operators called upon Uasin Gishu Governor, Jackson Mandago to intervene over the issue.
