With just four rounds of play left for the 2017 National Super League (NSL) season to conclude, Ushuru FC are optimistic of finishing top of the log to earn an automatic promotion back to the Premier League.
With the race growing ever tighter, a pack of five are closely chasing for the available slots with Ushuru getting pressure from Vihiga United, Wazito FC, KCB FC, and Nairobi Stima.
According to Ushuru head coach Ken Kenyatta, mental strength will define who takes home the ultimate prize.
“We are in a marathon and the next phase is going to get tricky. We have to be tactical and so we’re looking at one match at a time,” Kenyatta said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
In their midweek fixture against FC Talanta, Fan Ngaira and Benson Amianda netted for the Taxmen to secure their 22nd win of the season.
On the log, Ushuru sits first on 72 points and is closely followed by KCB (70 points) and Wazito (68 points).
Vihiga United are fourth on 65 points and could rise to equal Wazito if they win their game in hand.
