Tendere tea Factory has started offering bursary advances to contracted farmers to help them pay fees for their children.
The company announced the offer aimed to help poor farmers pay third term school fees on time.
Speaking to the press Wednesday morning Agriculture manager Mr. Evans Ariera said that farmers who have been loyal and selling high-quality tea to the factory qualify for the advance which is deducted from the bonus payment.
He added that the applications must include a statement from the school showing the child’s name and expected fees.
“the factory has allocated Sh2 million to the programme adding that gesture will ease the financial burden on out farmers and we believe they will welcome it” he added
This comes at a time when the factory recently announced that it is looking into slashing its operation costs against the background of a biting raw material shortage.
