Farmers drawn from Riokanga area in Nyaribabari Chache constituency have called upon the area MP Richard Tong’i to consider constructing a modern tea buying center for them.
Led by Riakonga tea buying center clerk Eugene Ombasa, the farmers said that they have been incurring loses once they bring their tea to the center as direct sunlight gets into the center hence they want an immediate action.
Speaking at the facility on Tuesday the farmers called upon their MP to ensure that part of Constituency funds is set aside for them so that they can get a modern facility and make more money from their produce.
“We won’t sit and see ourselves getting into loses when we have funds from the government that can ensure that we are comfortable whenever we are doing business and we want the area MP to take action immediately,” he added.
Ombasa said that they will have a peaceful demonstration to the CDF offices if they won’t receive funds for the upgrading of the facility.
When reached on phone for a comment on the matter, area CDF committee chairperson wasn’t available.
