According to them, they always incur losses since the vehicles that collect their tea leaves to factories do not reach to those buying centers prompting them to get losses.

Speaking on Tuesday at Marani town, tea farmers led by Tom Ondieki noted that this is not the first time the county government is asked to react over impassable roads that head to tea buying centers.

“As tea farmers we face many challenges in tea farming, we spend much time in picking tea leaves but once we get to the buying centers it stays for more than three days without being collected because the vehicles have nowhere to pass due to poor impassible roads,” said Ondieki.

“Let the Kisii county government construct roads that head to tea buying centers if the county needs to help tea farmers from incurring losses,” added Ondieki.
