The farmers said the saccos deducted the money claiming that they are saving for them to use in old age.

The farmers led by Jimmy Momanyi said the saccos must come out and explain to farmers why they deducted the money.

“We were not consulted before the money was deducted. No document was signed over the deduction. The saccos management must give a detailed explanation before we take a legal action,” stated Momanyi.

Momanyi added that old aged farmers have been deducted the money yet such people need more money to support them because they depend on tea bonuses and payments for a living.

“How can you deduct a farmer aged 80 years claiming that it is shares given to saccos to be given out when a farmer gets old? This is unacceptable and if there will be no proper explanation we will take a legal action to have our money given back to us,” he noted.
