A 43-year-old teacher at Masaba Primary School in Kuria West Sub County has been detained at Kehancha police station for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old girl.

The suspect identified was arrested on Monday by the police and is expected to be arraigned before Kehancha magistrate court on Wednesday.

Kuria West OCPD Mr. Benson Makumbi said the suspect is accused of defiling a class one pupil at Rokere primary school on December 31, 2017.

Mr. Makumbi said the minor was from a borehole where she had gone to fetch water when the teacher who is their neighbor intercepted her, forcefully dragged her to the neighboring maize plantation where he defiled her.

The OCPD said it was very unfortunate that some community members were trying to conspire to hide the incident.

Mr. Makumbi said the suspect must be subjected to necessary punitive action if the court will prove him guilty so that he can be an example to other people.

He has also cautioned the locals from conspiring to deny the rape victims justice adding that they are arrested and charged in the court of law.
