A teacher at Mbogo primary school within Nakuru County has been accused of defiling a 16 year old pupil within the school premises.
It is alleged that Gekonge Nyang’au, 42, willingly assaulted the minor when on duty while other students were in class and tried to cover up the incident by threatening to harm her if she spoke a word to anyone.
The accused has since been interdicted by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) after he was charged in a Nakuru court on Monday.
Nyang’au, who appeared before Chief Magistrate Burudi Kalo, denied the charges terming them as allegations that lack basis since the pupil had not reported the matter to the administration.
The teacher also cited claims of ill will from teachers who have always wanted him to leave the institution.
“This was a plot by a group of teachers to have me kicked out of the school considering the good work I have done,” he said.
The prosecution opposed his release arguing that he is likely to interfere with evidence by contacting pupils and staff who have been listed to testify against him in court.
Magistrate Kalo directed that he be remanded at the Nakuru GK prison until the investigations are complete
The matter was slated for hearing on July 21.
