A teacher at Kaemu mixed secondary school in Thogoto has today been arrested following claims that he had been defiling a form one student In the school over the past one month.

This is after the form one student developed a habit of coming home late for the past one month.

The parent, Mercy Njoki, said that her daughter started having a habit of coming at home at 7:30pm or even 8pm which was not normal.

‘’Everytime I questioned her she could hesitate and say that she had assignments to do, I still wasn’t convinced until I pushed her and even beat her that she revealed how the teacher always told her to remain behind when others go home,’’ said the parent.

She explained that she went to Kikuyu police station where she reported the matter .

Confirming the incident in his office today, Kikuyu OCPD SSP Mutune Maweu said that the teacher was immediately arrested Friday morning after the parent reported the matter late last night.He said cases of teachers defiling minors in school had increased in the region stating that this was the 12th incident this year.

‘’The teacher had been defiling the girl repeatedly over the past one month and threatening her not to mention a word to anyone.He also did so and favoured her in school exams,’’ said Maweu.

He warned teachers with such characters to stop this behaviour as it is a crime.He also urged school heads to ensure are vigilant with suspicious characters in schools to curb the vice in schools especially girl schools.

''The suspect is in custody and will appear before court immediately investigations are done,'' said Maweu.
