A deputy secondary school teacher and a supervisor were on Thursday charged at a Nyamira court for being in possession of the ongoing KCSE exam materials.

The teacher, Reuben Mukabane and Benjamin Kerina appeared before Nyamira senior resident magistrate Alice Towett.

The two were charged that on November 14, they were found with exam materials in their mobile phones.

The accused denied the charges and were released unconditionally until November 29 when the case will be mentioned.

The prosecution asked the court to detain the suspect in custody but Towett declined, saying the decision to detain the accused will violate their rights.

She said the prosecution will still investigate the matter without the  suspects being in custody.
