A teacher from a school in Kisumu has resigned after being accused of stealing Sh7, 000 from one of his colleagues.
The young male teacher who is also a graduate of the University of Eldoret noted that he was accused of stealing the money because he bought a new phone.
The teacher narrated that he was forced to kneel down as students watched him at the head teacher’s office something he says was very demeaning.
He noted that he would not stand the embarrassment and was forced to resign since he can’t face the students.
“I crushed my phone the previous day and coincidentally the following day I bought a new phone worth Sh9, 500 placing me as the suspect yet I did not steal the money,” the teacher explained.
The other teachers noted that the accused earns Sh10, 000 per month making it impossible for him to buy the phone with all his monthly income.
“I had a chicken business before I started working here and that is the source of my money. The fact that I bought a phone does not make me the thief of the money,” he said.
He has since resigned from the school and has threatened to take legal action.
