All teacher seeking to register with employer TSC will now be required to produce a certificate of good conduct.
TSC chair Lydia Nzomo has announced that new modules for renewal of teaching certificates will be effected January.
According to the TSC Act, certficate renewal should be done after five years.
TSC chair Lydia Nzomo said newly registered teachers must certify they pass integrity test.
“We need teachers who are trained, qualified and who poses professional qualification to be registered,” she said.
“But we are moving a step further. Apart from the professional qualification, teachers will be required to have certificate of good conduct and must meet the requirement of chapter six of the constitution.”
Nzomo was speaking on Monday in Mombasa during the 13th annual meet of primary heads.
She said it will be easy to induct teachers with integrity for capacity development.
“We don’t want you to be confused with irrelevant programmes. What the commission has done is to come up with systematic capacity building modules to be followed,” she said.
