Teachers who choose to preside over the next presidential election on Thursday will be on their own.
This is according to the chairman of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Mr. Omboko Milemba.
Speaking in Busia County over the weekend, Mr. Milemba who is also the Member of Parliament for Emuhaya Constituency said KUPPET will not be held responsible for whatever happens to teachers who choose to preside over the election.
“Teachers who choose to preside over the Thursday election will be taking a huge risk. You might come out with injuries,” he said.
Leaders aligned to the National Super Alliance (NASA) have repeatedly said that there will be no election on Thursday, leading to security concerns for poll officials in NASA strongholds.
Most teachers are contracted as polling clerks, Presiding officers and deputy presiding officers during elections.
