Embu county women representative Rose Mitaru has blamed teachers for exam cheating saying it is their negligence that has forced students to cheat.
The member of Education Committee at the national assembly called on teachers to up their game in order for learners to benefit from the education system.
While citing the significant drop of exam cheating witnessed in the 2016 exams, Mitaru said that this shows that most learners depend on cheating.
“The results released by education cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi were a clear indication that teachers have also abdicated their teaching responsibilities to students, forcing them to cheat in a bid to pass examinations,” said Mitaru.
Mitaru said there is need for teachers to go back to the drawing board and see to it that students are taught well.
