Tom Ombwori who was vying for KUPPET chairmanship Kisii branch said police officers who were guarding the elections sided with his opponent’s side.

“I condemn the officers who were at Kisii cultural hall in the name of protecting us. They sided with my opponent who realized that I will defeat him and paid the officers money to disrupt the voting exercise to deny me victory,” he said.

Ombwori noted that the officers who shot in the air scared away his supporters who fled from the polling center.

“I had campaigned well ready to emerge victorious but police officers are to blame for disrupting the exercise that was peaceful. Even if the voting will be repeated I will still emerge a winner,” he added.

However, Raban Ouko who was accused of paying police officers to disrupt the exercise denied the allegations and said Ombwori’s supporters were spotted entering the voting room with marked ballot papers something that brought about chaos.

Ouko said he is ready to run against his opponent when the voting will be repeated.

Kisii branch KUPPET secretary general Albert Otungu denied that his office was favoring contestants.

He said the elections will be repeated at later date to be announced.
