The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) has faulted the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for failing to fully implement the 2017/2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) they signed in 2017.
The Uasin Gishu Kuppet Secretary General Elijah Maiyo said the implementation of the CBA has not been forthcoming since principals, deputy principals and senior teachers are yet to benefit from the CBA one year down the line.
“As a union, we have also noted that the annual increment of teachers is yet to be restored even after confirmation and surety from TSC that is going to be restored but up to now nothing constructive has been done,” Maiyo said in Eldoret town on Thursday.
“We are reading malice in their actions and they are working hard to demoralize teachers and as a union, we will not accept that. We are calling upon TSC to ensure that the CBA is implemented to the latter for teachers to benefit,” he added.
Maiyo accused TSC of being slow in implementing payments meant to benefit teachers.
“It is sad that the newly employed teachers take one year for their salaries to be paid and also those teachers being promoted automatically from job group K to L has not been effected," he said.
