The Kenya National Union of Teachers and the Kenya Post Primary Education Teachers have lashed out at Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i for pushing unilateral reforms down the throats of teachers.
Wilsson Sossion and KUPPET's Akelo Misori said that teachers would not accept the so-called reforms as teachers across the country were not consulted.
In an address in Kisii to KUPPET delegates, Sossion maintained that there was a need for public scrutiny and participation before implementation.
''As unions, we agree on the need for reforms but we will not swallow things wholesale without interrogating them.'' A stern Sossion said.
The KNUT secretary-general warned against imposing wrongs on Kenyan teachers.
Matiang'i's directive that all school heads needed to have masters degrees drew a lot of criticism, with Sossion arguing that a degree was not proof of someone's leadership but only an added advantage.
