Teachers from Uasin Gishu County have praised the government for delivering on its promise to supply books to schools on time as some have started receiving Form one books.

Speaking in a teachers’ meeting from Uasin Gishu County in Eldoret Town, the teachers led by Michael Kosgey, said that they expect the levels of education in the country to rise since students will have enough books for learning.

“We are happy as head teachers to receive learning books for form one students in English, Biology, and Chemistry, we thank the Ministry of Education for supplying us with these books on time,” Kosgey said.

In addition, he said that the books supplied will be hard to be pirated or sold in the black market since they have elaborate watermarks to guard against theft thus ensuring that the books will stay in school to facilitate learning.

“It will be difficult to steal the books and sell them on the streets since they have watermarks thus they will be properly managed in schools,” Kosgey added.

The Ministry of Education through its Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i had earlier said that the government will directly supply books to schools to prevent cartels who have been working in cahoots with unscrupulous school heads to swindle the taxpayer billions of shillings.
