Teachers in Uasin Gishu County on Thursday stormed Eldoret police station demanding the release of their colleague.
Leseru Boys High School principal Shardrack Ngetich was arrested alongside the school's watchman following a fire incident at the school on Wednesday night.
The teachers threatened to storm the cells in a bid to secure the release of Mr Ngetich.
Confirming the incident, Eldoret West OCPD Samuel Mutunga who was forced to intervene to avert chaos, said the principal was arrested after the school's administration was linked to the incident, where a dormitory was torched.
Muppet executive secretary Elijah Maiyo and and his Knut counterpart Sammy Bor faulted police over the arrest, terming it as malicious.
Speaking shortly after being released on a free bond, Mr Ngetich criticised the arrest saying it had ruined his reputation.
“My character has been injured and my reputation damaged. My professionalism has been reduced by half by spending the night in the police cells,” said Ngetich.
This comes amid the current wave of school unrest, with over 100 cases having been reported so far.
