Teachers from Nakuru have issued the government a 14-day ultimatum to remit housing allowances or else they organise a strike.
The 500 teachers claim that they have not been receiving their allowances compared to colleagues from other parts of the country.
"Teachers have not been receiving (allowances) and their grievances (have been) ignored since the harmonisation of house allowances in July last year," Nakuru Knut Executive Branch Secretary Mungai Muhia said.
While addressing the press on Wednesday, Muhia accused the teachers' employer of sleeping on the job and showing lack of respect towards them.
He added that TSC has selectively been paying the allowances to teachers in the same schools.
"Some teachers in the same schools are receiving, others are not, others in the same schools are receiving a different amount," he said.
The official added that if the grievances are not addressed immediately, teachers will down their tools and camp at the Nakuru county director of education office in protest demonstrations.
