South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro has warned teachers in the constituency against taking learners to funerals during school hours.
The lawmaker said learners should be given humble time to study for good perfomance.
“I don’t want to see teachers taking learners to attend funeral during school time. Teachers should send one or two representatives to represent the school at funerals,” he said.
He called on teachers to work hard to ensure good results are realized in national exams.
“I wish to challenge teachers to join me in ensuring that we boost the education standards in the region. As I will be focusing to improve infrastructure in schools, I expect teachers to teach learners well so that we can have good results,” he said.
He pleaded with parents not to condone their children at home during school time saying anyone found denying his or her child a right to education will be arrested and prosecuted.
