Kisii Central sub-county director of education, Charles Nyaribo has warned teachers who still apply corporal discipline risk facing dire consequences once they are caught.
Speaking to us on Monday, Nyaribo said that corporal discipline was banned and any teacher who is still doing the same is doing it against the law.
“The corporal discipline in our school was banned, for teachers who are doing the same once they are caught they will face the law,” said Nyaribo.
This comes after Stephen Ondimu, a parent from Nyabururu Girls high school visited his office claiming that his daughter was badly caned by one of the teachers and he was seeking for justice.
"On Wednesday last week I received a call from the school by one of the teachers whom I cannot disclose," said Ondimu.
"The teacher informed me about the status of my daughter after she was canned, what I would like is justice to be done," he added.
The sub- county director of education said that they are going to set up a committee which is going to investigate the matter and once they are out with findings necessary steps will be taken.
