The Teachers Service Commission has hired 60 tutors from Nakuru and Laikipia and sent them to Baringo county.

They are set to replace their collugues who fled due to insecurity.

Joshua Cheptarus, Knut executive secretary for Baringo, said a total of 266 teachers sought transfers after raids by suspected Pokot bandits.

The teachers were sent to Tiaty, Baringo North and Baringo South sub-counties.

“Security for the teachers was not assured. We hope that with the deployment of more officers and Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), there will be peace," said the executive secretary.

Cheptarus lauded the move by TSC saying that children will now be able to learn.
