Kenya was ranked 17th and third in Africa in what many sports analysts have termed as a dismal performance.

Speaking in Eldoret town on Tuesday, Chemno blamed the management of the Team Kenya for the poor results noting that notable names were omitted in the team that participated in the event.

"I was very disappointed with the results and when I saw the list, the names that I expected were nowhere to be seen," noted the Deputy governor.

He challenged the management of Athletics Kenya (AK) to always take global events seriously by ensuring the finest sportsmen and women represent the country.

"I am not saying those who represented us in Australia were poor but there were some names missing which i believe if they were there things could have been better," said Chemno.

He was speaking at a breakfast meeting that was held in Eldoret Club in preparation for the forthcoming Eldoret City Marathon.

He expressed confidence that the Marathon set for this Sunday will be an annual event and expects it to produce a larger number of champions in the future world of athletic events.
