A University of Eldoret student is lamenting after missing out Sh100,000 on Thursday night following a World cup match between Argentina and Croatia.
Albert Wekesa, a second-year student pursuing information science said that he was keenly following the match and decided to place a live match bet after noticing numerous opportunities that could see him cash in.
Wekesa says he decided to stake on Lionel Messi to score the third goal of the match with Sh10,000 with the possibility of pocketing a cool Sh100,000 is the game ended in his favor
He noted that after Croatia scored their second goal thanks to Real Madrid midfield maestro Luka Modric, Argentina immediately started possessing the ball with an aim of pulling back a historical win with hopes that their star striker, Messi could write history for himself with at least a goal.
"After the Croatians scored their second goal at 80th minute, i was certain that Messi was going to score a third goal which never came to be," said the sadly looking student.
He regretted the loss and vowed never to support Messi again together with his teammates even if they would by chance proceed to the round of sixteen.
The game ended 3-0 in favor of Croatia with the Argentines now staring at the possibility of an early exit from the Russia World Cup
