A Maasai girl who was rescued from early marriage in 2008 after scoring 344 marks was received like a heroine she was after graduating with a Law Degree from the Kabarak University.Josephine Sena battled tears after returning to her home after nine years in exile, narrating her heart-rending story.''I am very happy that I have finally graduated. My father wanted to marry me off but I insisted on pursuing my education. I was rescued and taken to the Hope Rescue Centre. It has been very tough as my parents were not united over my running away,'' Josephine Sena.Clad in a flowing graduation gown, Sena revealed that she intends to further her education by getting another degree. The Maasai community is still grappling with retrogressive cultural practices that bar women from self-advancement.Sena's academic triumph is a strong blow to that firm wall of conservatism.
