Education standards in Kiambu County are expected to improve following the putting up of the Lari Technical Institute (LTI).

Construction of the institute is already underway at Nyanduma Sub Location, Kiambu County.

The institute is expected to encourage pursue of higher education by secondary students, as well as to boost the number of higher learning institutions in the area to equip them with skills and knowledge after high school

Construction of the institute which is being funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), Ministry of Education and County Government of Kiambu sits on a seven acres of land in Lari Constituency.

Speaking to residents in Lari, area MP Mburu Kahangara urged the residents to support the institute.

“This institute will positively transform the lives of young people in the area. Students will be equipped  with necessary skills to develop the area and also build the country’s economy,” Kahangara said.

“It is good to see construction work of the technical institute going on smoothly. The institute will cost an estimated Sh 100 million,” said Kahangara.

Miriam Wanjiru, a resident, said the institute was well located in the interior parts of Lari constituency where students would not be disrupted by unnecessary noise

She added: “I expect to see people come from other counties coming to seek education here. The institute has a conducive environment for learning, and with the right support from government and other partners, it will do very well.”
