Technical skills remedy to  joblessness among the youths

Principal Secretary for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Dr. Dinah Mwinzi has urged youths to join technical institutions for them to get technical skills.

She is said this is the remedy for the joblessness among the youths and also helps the country attain vision 2030.

“As a ministry, we are encouraging youths to pursue technical courses through promotion practical training that would improve youth employability in both public and private sectors,” she said in Eldoret town, Tuesday.

“As we are talking almost 50 percent of youths are unemployed and this can only be reduced if youths are equipped with technical skills that will help them earn a living and stop depending on white collar jobs,” she added.

She reiterated that in this financial year, the government allocated sh 2.5 billion to TVET institutions for its equipment and maintenance.

“This is why as the government we are constructing at least one technical institution we want to ensure that all youths regardless where they stay have technical skills,” noted Mwinzi.
