The UN has recognised Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) as a centre of excellence in offering Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The institution was feted after thorough assessment conducted by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
TUM's curriculum, facilities and teaching personnel were thoroughly scrutinized before declaring the varsity the newest member of the International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNEVOC).
The international recognition means TUM can now coordinate, participate and establish linkages in UNESCO-related activities including organising and hosting global TVET symposiums and meetings.
TUM Vice Chancellor Laila Abubakar has welcomed the achievement, adding the institution was determined in exerting its presence as one of the leading Technical and Vocational Education and Training centres in the region.
