Stakeholders have come up with problems which might bring an end to fire incidents.
According to the stakeholders who attended the meeting at Cultural hall which was organised by the National Disaster Management unit and other organisations, fires in schools need to be addressed seriously as one way of safeguarding schools.
Kisii County Secondary School Heads Association (Kessha) chairman, Jairus Onchoke said that new technology has made students become rowdy and burn down schools.
Onchoke said that the use of mobile phones by student in schools and by the influence of the parents has affected many schools.
“As the principals, we have a challenge when it comes to mobile issues due to the influence of parents. We are unable to eradicate them,” said Onchoke.
He, therefore, challenged all stakeholders to come up with a way which they will end mobile usage in schools. The chairman also said lack of corporal punishment has also influenced the lack of discipline to students.
