According to the neihbours, the minor was found dead in a nearby dam by herdsmen who had gone to water their cattle.

Joseph Mwangi, a close member of the deceased said that the late went missing on Sunday evening, and efforts to trace her whereabouts hit a rock on Monday evening.

“We suspected something was a miss with her after she failed to return home, members of our family launched a search on Sunday evening and extended up to Monday evening,” said Mwangi.

Confirming the incident, Karati Chief Peter Kamau said that police from Naivasha Station retrieved the body and took it to Naivasha District Hospital mortuary.

Speaking to tearful residents who had milled at the scene, Kamau urged parents to monitor the changes of their children to counsel them.

“I believe this situation could have been averted if proper monitoring had being initiated,” said the chief.

Kamau urged parents to spend time with their children whenever they sense discomfort in their children to alleviate grievous consequences.

“Parents do not spend time with their children and this is the root cause of disastrous consequences,” said Kamau.

The chief urged teens to obtain guidance and counseling from elderly whenever they are in depression.

The deceased obtained less than 200 marks in the 2014 KCPE results, a situation which angered her according to her sister Mary Wambui.

Her death comes barely two months after her father committed suicide under unclear circumstances.
