Police in Naivasha have arrested a 13-year-old boy in connection with a drug peddling syndicate.
The boy, together with an accomplice in possession of 100 rolls of bang, were nabbed on Saturday by the police.
Confirming the arrest, area Administration Police commandant Robert Mwangi said the two are notorious and have evaded arrest for long. He said they were arrested by plain-clothes officers at the county council estate following a tip off from the public.
“We received a tip off from members of the public that led to arrest of the two,” the police boss said.
“The two are aiding the police with investigations and will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.”
Mwangi decried the high cases of bhang use among teenagers, adding that the police will launch a major crackdown on peddlers.
A section of residents in the estate have complained of a high number of teenagers smoking bhang.
Anne Mwaura, a businesswoman, claimed that teenagers smoke bhang even in public.
“They smoke it everywhere, they don’t fear anyone,” she said.
Last week police arrested a middle-aged man in the estate who was caught selling bhang to students.
