A 19-year old teenager accused of defilement tried to commit suicide after being sentenced on Thursday.
According to the Star, Hesbon Koskei drank acid in the police cells shortly after the court found him guilty of the crime.
The man allegedly committed the crime on September 22, 2013 at the Beeston Village in Nakuru county.
Nakuru resident magistrate Judicaster Nthuku had sentenced him to four months at the Kamiti Youth Corrective Centre, after which he was to be put on probation.
The man was found by his advocate Steve Kabita who said he was having breathing difficulties.
“I saw him lying down and his mouth was full of foam. I called the guards who helped me to carry him out for first aid,” said Kabita.
Koskei was later taken to Nakuru Level Five Hospital
