A 14-year-old teenager was on Thursday electrocuted at Karagita village in the outskirts of Naivasha.

His death caused sorrow and grief among area residents, when police arrived to take his body.

One resident, Paul Gathua said: “the boy was playing with his age mates at a nearby playing field when he suddenly stepped on a live wire."

Gathua blamed a local electrical contractor over the incident.

“Why couldn’t he say that he has not completed his job, and rather leaving uncovered wires open?” Gathua said.

Residents challenged Kenya Power to carry out investigations regarding the incident, and how cables are installed at the area by contractors.

Naivasha OCPD Titus Munyoki was not reachable to confirm the incident, but a senior police officer who sought anonymity said investigations are underway.
