Garissa County Governor Nathif Jama has said that the recently formed Telamuge Alliance will not change the political situation in this part of the nation, adding that the outfit will not stand a test of time.
The alliance, which has united Abduwak and Samawadhal communities, was formed with the aim of enabling different leaders win elective posts in the forthcoming general polls.
According to the agreement, Ali Korane from the Abduwak clan is to contest against Jama with Abdi Dagane from the Samawadhal clan as his running mate when that time comes.
The alliance also agreed that incumbent Senator Yusuf Haji will be accorded the support required as he seeks to defend his post.
The county boss has, however, termed the alliance as a bunch of leaders driven by selfish interest. The governor, who was elected on a Wiper ticket said that the clans are attempting to sideline other communities, which is not good for the economy.
“When you speak of clan-based alliances are you trying to exclude other communities just to advance your interest, the kind of politics we want in Garissa in one whose success has to be based on achievements,” he said.
The county boss, who has remained upbeat despite several candidates declaring war against him, also said he will floor all the other candidates.
“I have no doubt in my mind that the people of Garissa have confidence in my re-election not because of clan orientation but because of my value proposition and in terms of delivering results for them,” he added.
